Research activities
• Synthesis, synthetic application and structural (UV, IR, NMR) investigation of chalcones and cyclic chalcone analogues (2-benzylidenecyclanones and 2-benzylidenebenzocyclanones) and their ferrocenyl counterparts.
 • Structure-activity relationship studies on the effects of chalcones and cyclic chalcone analogues on the cell cycle of cancer cell lines.
 • Structure-activity relationship studies on the antioxidant/prooxidant effects of chalcones, estrogens and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
 • Study on (stereo)chemistry of reaction of alfa,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds (chalcones, and cyclic chalcone analogues) with sulphur and nitrogen nucleophilic reagents.
 • Investigation of biotransformation of capsaicinoids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the small intestine using ex vivo rat model.
 • Chemico-biochemical backgrounds of cancer chemoprevention.
